A spring clean programme run by Braintree District Council
began on the 25th March. A group of Tabor Science Eco
Ambassadors who joined local Community Champions joined Cllr
Robert Mitchell , Council Officers and Community Champions to
tackle the litter along the pathway from the College to the
Springwood Industrial Estate.
The pathway is very popular and used by school children,
dog walkers and workers. The litter hot spot
was identified by one of the local Champions. Twenty
bags of litter were collected including shoes, glass bottles, tyres
and chairs. Council Officers are arranging for the
horticultural team to go back and cut the bushes and clear the
remainder of the area.
The litter-pick by the students and Community Champions is one
of many similar projects, where local community champions are
helping to keep the district clean and green as part of the Spring
Clean Campaign.
Environment portfolio holder, Councillor Roger Walters
said, "Supporting people and encouraging them to take
pride in their surroundings and in their community is one of the
council's main priorities. All neighbourhoods need people who
care like the students and the community wardens, people who are
willing to spend time to make the District a cleaner, better place
to live and we will do everything we can to help them to make a
difference."
