Update at June 2009
Further work currently being undertaken by Braintree District
Council's Community Wardens:
- Community Speed Watch Training. Working with
Town/Village Community Groups in help reducing levels of vehicular
speed.
- Recently Qualified Wardens in Level 1 – 3 Cycling
Instruction. Instruction/advice to Community Groups/Schools
on Low to High levels of Cycling training.
- Recently Qualified Wardens in Primary School Year 6 Cycling
Proficiency Course. Courses available to Schools and Youth
organisations.
- The effective monitoring and reduction in the removal of
Abandoned Vehicles within the District The continued organising of
Community Events.
- Recently held was the Army Fun Day at Colchester Garrison,
involving 50+ youngsters in a physical and mental activity day,
incorporating team building, leadership and promoting working
together.
- Organising a Toy Swap event in local schools. The Toy
Swap involves children bringing to the venue items which they no
longer want, so that they are able to swap them, free of charge for
other toys. Other items include shoes, clothing, books, DVD’s
Computer Games etc. Primary Schools who have already
participated so far are: Ridgewell, Pebmarsh, De Vere and St
Peters, Sible Hedingham. Any items that remain after the event will
be recycled or donated to Charitable organisations.
- Organising clearance of overgrown vegetation in communal areas
by Unpaid Workers.
- Assisting with the training of Essex Police Recruits in that
introducing them to aspects of Community work.
The Community Wardens are always looking at ways to help assist
or advance projects within the Braintree District. Members of
the public who have ideas for work in this area or have concerns
regarding their community, which perhaps your Wardens could
