[Full Time]
Area: Halstead
A former Air Freight Ops Handler at Stansted Airport and
Horticultural worker, Richard has found his job can
involve anything from making friends with the elderly to being
pelted with snowballs.
"When it was snowing a group of kids decided they got an extra
point for hitting a Community Warden. I was walking down the road
and ended up covered - even their parents had a go! It
was all in good spirit though."
When he's not being ambushed Richard enjoys meeting people from
all walks of life and devising new activities for youngsters to get
involved in.
"I've asked them to help me by getting into groups to
discuss what they'd like to do."
He also likes visiting the elderly and is a regular at the
Senior Citizens Group and Halstead Day Centre.
"They're brilliant!"
He believes that there are two key ingredients needed for the
Warden service to become a success.
"The partnership with Essex police is important and members of
the public can also get involved by helping me to
organise events and litter picks."
Away from work, Richard is a family man who likes fishing, clay
pigeon shooting and taking his wife and three children on days
out.
