Jackie Windard *

[Part Time]

Area: Silver End to Coggeshall

A former lollipop lady who once had seven jobs at one time, Jackie says her new job could be under threat... from her four-year-old grandson!

"My daughter rang me last week telling me he had just had a tantrum in a toy shop. I thought it was because he wanted an MP3 player or something like that - it turned out he was screaming because he wanted a litter picker like his grandma's!"

Jackie, who also works as a part-time Property Officer with Essex Police, loves being a Warden because it is something that comes naturally to her.

"I'm the sort of person who already tells people to put their litter in the bin!"

She believes the service has made a difference because people now come directly to her with any issues they have.

"Instead of being passed around lots of departments they speak to me and then I can let the right people know. It means things get sorted out more quickly - my motto is under promise and over deliver!"

Jackie feels she is settling into the Warden role well - she has already helped members of a local Scout group work towards their Community badge and will soon be visiting a nursery with Essex Police to teach three and four-year-olds about "helpful people within the Community."

Outside of work Jackie is vice president of a social committee and enjoys spending time with her grandson, swimming and cycling.
