A visible presence on the streets, parks and open spaces, the Community Wardens act as the eyes and ears of the Council, Police and Community. They work closely with Essex Police and local Parish and Town Councils to make the District a cleaner and safer place to live and work by:

<>   Proactively dealing with fly tips, abandoned vehicles and graffiti
<>   Clearing litter or any other mess that they find
<>   Dealing with anti-social behaviour
<>   Promoting safety
<>   Issuing fixed penalty notices for litter and dog fouling
<>   Offering advice and support to the more vulnerable members of the community

The Community Warden Service evolved out of the successful trial of the Parish Rangers. The team of nine Wardens, including one co-ordinator, provides a ‘uniformed’ presence in rural and urban areas across the District. Their mission is to improve the quality of life and well-being of local residents by helping people feel safer, assisting with environmental improvements and contributing to the development of stronger, more confident communities.

The Warden role is a people role - working with people, through people and for people... and that means being out on the streets, making a difference to where you live.
