The Landscape Services team at Braintree District Council have
produced an Environmental Educational Pack containing games,
practical tasks and activities in order to encourage schools and
local groups to utilise the open spaces we have in the District and
to educate children about the environment and wildlife where they
live. There are activities for all ages, many linking with
the National Curriculum from mini-beast hunting and tree
identification for primary schools to building otter holts and
habitat surveying for young adults.
The pack also contains a list of some of the Braintree District
Council owned sites around the District where groups can take
children to carry out activities. Many of the sites are
within walking distance to schools in the urban areas of Braintree
District so even if you have limited capacity within the school
grounds there should be a site within the local area.
