We routinely inspect all workplaces in the district to ensure
that they are safe both for the people who work there and those who
visit their premises. The frequency with which premises are
inspected depends on the level of risk posed by the business. Each
premises is given a risk score every time it is inspected.
We also inspect workplaces following complaints and accidents.
Where conditions are below standard we can take a number of
measures. This can range from giving advice to the person operating
the business right through to prosecuting them in the courts.

Self-Assessment Checklist to check whether you are complying
with all aspects of health and safety legislation. After completion
you may send the form back to the health and safety team for
feedback.
