Who is our training aimed at?
Our food hygiene training courses are primarily aimed at food
businesses, from small enterprises consisting of one or two staff,
to large companies. We are happy to work with any food business
whether within or outside the Braintree District.
Why do you need this training?
Regulation (EC) 852/2004 on the hygiene of feedstuffs expects
that all food handlers are supervised and instructed and/or
trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work
activity.
In addition to this those responsible for the development and
maintenance of a permanent procedure based on the HACCP principles
(a documented food safety system, for example
Safer Food Better Business) are to ensure
that they have received adequate training in the application of
the HACCP principles.
Recognised Qualifications
Our Level II Award in Food Safety in Catering courses are
approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. These
courses are carried out at the council offices on a monthly
basis.
The course consists of 6 hours tuition carried out in an
informal friendly atmosphere followed by a 30 question multiple
choice examination paper.
The syllabus, which includes training on prevention of food
poisoning, allergen contamination, bacteriology, personal hygiene,
cleaning, pest control and food safety management systems.
The new course has been updated to reflect the latest changes in to
legislation.
Where is the Training Held? Food Hygiene Training
Courses are held at Causeway House and although refreshments are
provided, lunch is not included.
The cost is £60 per person as of 1st January
2010.
