Halstead River Walk Improvements *
Picture1

The £64,000 Project to improve the riverside walk began in June 2011 and saw the installation of a new 2.5 metre wide path laid along two 300 metre stretches of un-surfaced path between Parsonage Street, nr Fire Station, and Nether Court; and Broton Drive Industrial Estate to Chapel Street to football ground – routes which in the summer were often overgrown and difficult to access and in the winter were often too boggy to walk along. The new composite, soft gravel track suits walkers, push chairs, wheelchairs, cycles and children’s scooters or tricycles.

There is a new native planting scheme and a replacement of the fence alongside Parsonage Street with a decorative metal railing, as well as two new benches and litter bins.

In preparation for BDC receiving the next hand over of land from the developers we have prepared some plans for the next stage of the river walk improvements.

We want residents of Halstead to learn about our proposals and have the opportunity for local people to have a say - with the aim of making the plans the best that they can be. You can get involved and have your say by coming along to our consultation event on Saturday 14th January 2012 or by viewing the plans and completing the on-line questionnaire. (please see link to the right of this page) Closing date for Questionnaires is 31st January 2012.
