The key benefit to the community of Braintree District is that
all revenue generated from the electricity produced would be used
to support public services for residents. Unlike commercial
windfarms, where a small community contribution is made, this
project is owned by the Council on behalf of the taxpayer and all
revenue will be invested into the provision of public services. The
expected reveune will pay for 2 waste vehicles and their crews who
serve 10,000 properties every week.
The Great Notley Country Park is a successful visitor
attraction. We are considering the option of a viewing
platform as part of the development to draw new local visitors to
the site.
An aim of the turbine project will be to encourage school visits
and engage with pupils on green energy and the environment.
We hope that the wind turbine will attract other spin off
environmental projects for the country park and its visitors.
The turbine will offset carbon emissions and contribute to
reducing the district’s carbon emissions for the benefit of the
wider community.
