Braintree Tertiary College was established in 1992 under the Further and Higher Education Act of the same year. The Governing body of Braintree College, the Braintree College Further Education Corporation, is responsible for the general conduct of the College. Braintree College is the only post-16 educational institution in Braintree and it offers a wide range of educational provision for the over 16s. Financed primarily by central government via the Further Education Funding Councils for England and Wales, Braintree College also receives grants from Essex County Council Community and Education & Post 16 Liaison.
