The Braintree Sixth Form opened in September 2009, housed in
a new purpose built centre funded by a grant of £6,000,000
from the Learning and Skills Council. In 2005 the ongoing success
of Notley High School was recognised by the Department for
Education and Skills and the school was designated as a High
Performing Specialist School. This achievement enabled a bid to the
Learning and Skills Council to establish a sixth form. The
governors of Notley High School were determined that this
opportunity should be for the benefit of all students in the
Braintree area. This determination was shared by the
governors of Alec Hunter Humanities College, Honywood Community
Science School and Tabor Science College. The four schools are
working in a partnership to staff and manage the Braintree Sixth
Form.
The Braintree Sixth Form offers the International
Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and Advanced (A) Level qualifications
and it is the only provider for these qualifications in
Braintree.
