When an election is called, each registered elector will be sent
a poll card advising that you have asked for a postal vote.
These cards will usually be sent out approximately 2 weeks before
the election.

What is the deadline for applying for a postal vote or
changing your postal vote arrangements?
The last date for completion and receipt by the Electoral Office
of new postal applications and alteration to existing arrangements
(including cancellation) for a specific election is 11 working days
prior to polling day.
How secure is a postal vote?
Each applicant for a postal vote is required to provide their
date of birth and signature on the Postal Voting Statement, which
must be returned to the Returning Officer together with the
completed ballot paper in sealed envelopes.
I haven’t received my postal ballot paper

You should receive your postal ballot paper 1 – 2 weeks before
the election. If it hasn’t arrived before the election, you
should contact the Election Office who can issue a replacement no
later that 5:00pm on polling day.
I’ve lost my postal ballot paper
You can get a replacement ballot paper from the Election Office
up until 5:00pm on polling day.
I opted for a postal vote but I don’t want to post it or
I’m too late to post it.
You can deliver your ballot paper to any polling station in your
Electoral Area or the Council Offices, Causeway House, Bocking End,
Braintree up to 10:00pm on polling day.
