Overview and Scrutiny Committee:
Investigation into Licensing Enforcement
As part of its continuing investigation into the conduct and use
of enforcement powers across the Council’s services, the Council’s
Overview and Scrutiny Committee is looking at the issue of
Licensing Enforcement in respect of the following areas of
work:-
<> Licensing of Hackney Carriage and
Private Hire Vehicles
<> Licensing of premises for the sale and
supply of alcohol, the provision of regulated entertainment and the
provision of late night refreshment
The Committee will be looking at how these enforcement functions
are organised and resourced, and what activities are carried
out. On completion of its study, the Committee will make
recommendations to the Council’s Cabinet on any improvements that
can be made to the existing arrangements.
If you have any views or comments that will help the Committee
in its deliberations, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Please note that whilst the Committee will be looking at these
enforcement functions in some depth, it cannot intervene in any
current enforcement cases in which the Council may be
engaged.
