Working Together to Keep Our Villages & Towns Tidy

*

Keeping our roadsides, paths and open spaces looking clean and tidy and well maintained is one of Braintree District Council's key priorities through the Green Heart of Essex

Much of this is being achieved in our villages by  Parish Councils who have taken on the responsibility of delivering the services themselves.

If your Parish Council would like any information or has any queries relating to a partnership agreement for grass cutting, emptying litter bins, reporting fly-tipping or funding a handyman  please contact  us.

By telephone on 01376 552525

By e-mail - csc@braintree.gov.uk*

Litter Bins in Parishes are often provided by the Parish Council. Initial requests for additional bins should be to them. The Parish Council will then liaise directly with the District Council in respect of the actual requirements.

When reporting Abandoned Vehicles it helps us if you can gather the following information: -

Registration number.

Make and type of vehicle.

Date since apparent abandonment.

Location.

Condition of vehicle

If it has a current road fund licence

How to dispose of  an unwanted vehicle

This Council operates a responsible ownership scheme. Bring your registration document, another form of identification (driving licence, passport)  to one of the Council offices and , for a small charge, we will arrange for our contractor to collect your car from your home.

Alternatively, if your car is still roadworthy and legal on the road you can take it to the contractor directly for no charge. You must still bring your registration document and identification to the Council office to take advantage of this scheme.

Fly Tipping is the unauthorised dumping of a large item or quantity of waste which is illegal. The law that applies to fly tipping is the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Fly posting is the illegal and unauthorised placing of any sign, poster or sticker advertising or promoting an event or commercial activity on any street sign, public utility street cabinets or on private premises.

Dog Fouling and Dog Related Issues

The Dog Warden Service provided by Braintree District Council  deals with the problem of dog fouling but also includes advice on other dog related issues such as  microchipping coping with barking and  stray dogs.
