The parish of Rivenhall is situated in the Southeast corner of
the Braintree District, the main village being about 1 mile from
the A12, which cuts through the other part of the parish, Rivenhall
End. It is, in the main, a rural parish with an agricultural
landscape of woodland and arable land with some small areas of
pasture
Rivenhall has been inhabited for many centuries with evidence of
Bronze Age ring ditches and a Roman villa, although the St. Mary's
and All Saints parish church has been built upon the latter
site.
