I am a churchwarden of All Saints', Feering.

Training and Development Undertaken

Since becoming a Councillor in May 2003, I have attended courses on planning, the Licensing Act 2003 and sustainable energy.

Key Personal Highlights/Contributions During the Year.

I have been concerned with proposals for what I consider to be unsuitable and unsustainable development in the vicinity of my Kelvedon ward. 

First, I have spoken against plans for the construction and operation under a PFI of a very substantial waste facility and incinerator on Rivenhall Airfield.  The planning application has been called in by the Secretary of State and will be the subject of a public enquiry commencing on 29th September 2009. 

Secondly, in March 2009 the Witham Local Committee recommended that proposals for residential and commercial development in the north-east of Witham should be deleted from Braintree District Council's emerging Local Development Framework and that proposed residential development at Lodge Farm off Hatfield Road, Witham should be reduced from 600 to 300 dwellings.  At the June Braintree District Council meeting I spoke and voted in support of the Witham Local Committee's recommendations but did not prevail against the vote of full Council.
