Involvement with Organisations within Braintree District and Elsewhere

Previously a member of the (now abolished) Halstead Local Committee.

I am a member of the Planning Committee which meets fortnightly and deals with District- wide planning applications.   I sit on the Cultural Partnership Board which currently has a particular interest in cultural activities leading up to London 2012   I am also on the London 2012 Working Group   Since the start of this year I have involved with a Task & Finish Group looking at Bus & Rail Travel in the District.  

Constituency Work

I work full time but frequently attend Parish Council meetings and Police Community Consultative Group meetings as they are held in the evenings. Where possible, I make time in my diary to attend ward events during the day and can always be contacted via telephone or email.

Training and Development Undertaken

I will continue to attend training sessions for Members when the opportunity arises.

Key Personal Highlights/Contributions

My additional responsibilities as Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing & Well Being mean that I attend Cabinet meetings regularly; I am pleased to be able to support the Portfolio holder, Cllr Lady Patricia Newton. I have a particular interest in the welfare of older people in the District.   I work closely with my fellow Ward Councillor, Chris Siddall, in looking after the interests of the three villages in our Ward and ensuring a good quality of life is available  to all residents.
