Constituency Work
I work full time but frequently attend Parish Council meetings
and Police Community Consultative Group meetings as they are held
in the evenings. Where possible, I make time in my diary to attend
ward events during the day and can always be contacted via
telephone or email.
Involvement with Organisations within Braintree District
and Elsewhere
I am a member of the Halstead Local Committee, which has
replaced the Area Committee. I also sit on the new style Planning
Committee dealing with district wide planning applications.
I represent the Council on the Cultural Partnership Board, the
Halstead Crime Prevention Panel and the Trinity House Project
(NACRO).
During the summer I was asked to Chair a Task Group on Rural
Isolation, a project I am pleased to be part of.
Training and Development Undertaken
Since my re election in May, I have attended training sessions
and seminars on the Housing Transfer to Greenfields, Planning
Enforcement, the Code of Conduct for Councillors and Effective
Chairing.
Key Personal Highlights/Contributions
I was delighted to be re elected to this ward in May and to be
able to continue my involvement with the villages and the wider
issues concerning Braintree District.
Together with my fellow ward Councillor, Rosemary O’Shea, I am
keen to ensure a good quality of life for residents which means
keeping the area crime & vandal free, retaining bus services
(and our post office) and maintaining green spaces. In short,
ensuring that the three villages in my ward are safe, pleasant
places to live, work & play!
