Constituency Work
I have lived in Coggeshall for 18 years and am married to former
Braintree MP, Tony Newton. I have represented Coggeshall
& North Feering since 2003 and support both Coggeshall and
Feering Parish Councils, attending parish meetings as often
as I can. Because I live in the middle of the village people
know where to find me if they need help.
I am President of Coggeshall Old People’s Welfare Association,
regularly helping with their Monday lunches, and I am a
Trustee of the Coggeshall Prentice Youth Work Trust .
Presentation of a cheque for £5,000 from the Chairman's Charity
Fund to the Coggeshall Prentice Youth Work Trust.
Involvement with other organisations across the
district
I support many voluntary and community organisations
across the district including:
<> Braintree & District Parkinson’s
Disease Society
<> Braintree & District MS Society
<> Rethink
<> Farleigh Hospice
<> Braintree & District Crossroads
<> Halstead Day Centre – Patron
<> Braintree & District Homestart -
Patron
I am also a non-executive director of Mid Essex
Primary Care Trust
Training and Development
I have attended the majority of training sessions during the
last five years including Planning, Local Development Framework,
the Licensing Act, Code of Conduct for members.
Personal highlights of the year
At district level being Chairman of the Council has
undoubtedly been an honour and a great pleasure and has given me
the opportunity to recognise the difference made to the life of our
communities by volunteers and community groups. As a local
councillor everytime I help solve a problem for a constituent is a
highlight.
