Councillors Allowances & Expenses *

  
For the first time, residents in the district are able to view the expenses and allowances paid to Braintree District’s councillors online.

In the light of the current unrest over MPs’ expense claims it is important to help restore trust in local democracy.  Making details of councillors' allowances and expenses easily available to all goes beyond what is required and demonstrates our commitment to running an open and transparent council.

To view Information on basic allowances and special allowances claimed by the district’s 60 councillors alongside all expenses claimed use the link to Members’ allowances and expenses reimbursed (PDF).  Twenty-three councillors did not claim reimbursement for the expenses they incurred.

To view a full breakdown of every single claim made over the course of the last year by the Council Leader and Cabinet Members used the link to Cabinet Members breakdown of expenses (Excel spreadsheet).
