Neighbourhood Watch is a community organised group and is not managed by the Police.

Neighbourhood Watch enables everyone to be more effective in looking after their own personal property and helps others who are vulnerable and this raises community spirit.

Members of Neighbourhood Watch are the eyes and ears for the Police in their own community.

Membership is free and anyone of any age is welcome. The commitment can be as little as 30 minutes every month to whatever time you have available.

If you wish to know who your local coordinator is or want any information on Neighbourhood Watch please contact Clive Stewart who's details appear below.

So what has Neighbourhood Watch done for you?

1.      It has created and improved community spirit!
It is all about the community getting together. Neighbourhood Watch Groups are organised and managed by the residents and NOT the Police.

2.      Neighbourhood Watch Groups advised residents in villages & towns to be more security conscience.
How? By distributing literature and advice from the Police on various topics, e.g.: what to do when you go on holiday leaving your homes unoccupied and reminders not to leave items in your cars when  parked. Also being aware of keeping wallets/purses safe when out. Finally how to handle unwanted callers at your door.

3.      The Police support Neighbourhood Watch Groups.
Why? The Police say that they cannot manage alone the constant fight against crime, and indeed, more than ever need the support of local people to act as “eyes and ears” in the community and report suspicious incidents. The local communities are in a better position, at times, to determine what is usual and what is unusual in the locality of their homes.

4.      The Police have supplied information about local criminal activity and received responses from the community which helped solve crime.
How? The Police communicate to the Neighbourhood Watch community by using e-mails and/or telephone. Sometimes actions are required for Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators to ask their members/residents for information on specific “activities” or the Police may give clear instructions to prevent crime.

Please note that “The Opportunity of Crime Reduces in a Community which Cares”.
