Pavement Permits *
Couple sitting at table

More and more businesses now look to take advantage of the outside of their premises by setting up tables and chairs on the Highway to attract customers. Each time a person wishes to do this, a Pavement Permit is required.

How do I know if I will need a permit?

Where a business wishes to extend their seating and table area on to the highway for the production of income, as a centre of advice or information or for advertising they will require a Pavement Permit.

Are there any time restrictions?

Yes. The Council has decided that the hours of trading for Pavement Permits will be between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday.

Will I need any other permissions?

In each case it is necessary for the landowners consent to be obtained before any trading commences. The provision of a Pavement permit does not override the need for permission to be sought under other Acts such as Planning and Health.
