More and more businesses now look to take advantage of the
outside of their premises by setting up tables and chairs on the
Highway to attract customers. Each time a person wishes to do this,
a Pavement Permit is required.
How do I know if I will need a permit?
Where a business wishes to extend their seating and table area
on to the highway for the production of income, as a centre of
advice or information or for advertising they will require a
Pavement Permit.
Are there any time restrictions?
Yes. The Council has decided that the hours of trading for
Pavement Permits will be between 8am and 8pm Monday to Sunday.
Will I need any other permissions?
In each case it is necessary for the landowners consent to be
obtained before any trading commences. The provision of a Pavement
permit does not override the need for permission to be sought under
other Acts such as Planning and Health.
